The challenge of anyone setting off on a waterborne endeavor is how to both keep things dry and accessible. I purchased this backpack in an attempt to solve that problem for myself and I am glad that I did. The backpack is watertight while maintaining a level of accessibility that is needed when on the water and in confined spaces. Putting this backpack in front of me in my pack raft was the perfect solution for needing to keep my camera and lunch dry, but still needing to be able to get them. Other bags require the old fashioned roll down sleeve and buckle or the US Army wet weather bag’s double cinch approach. This waterproof zipper design is far better than either of those. Additionally, to economize space in the boat (very limited on a packraft) the compression strap helps keep the bag from taking up much-needed room. The phone pouch is, by far, the best feature of the backpack. I cannot tell you how many times I have been on the water and wanted the use of my phone for maps, texts, or other things while being terrified to take it out in fear of dropping it. Waterproof or floating cases help, but it also decreases the usability of the phone. This backpack keeps the phone safe while allowing you to use it. It is even better if you have a pair of Bluetooth earphones that will allow you to make phone calls while the phone is safe in the backpack. If nothing else, this feature alone is worth the purchase of the backpack in my opinion.

This dry bag keeps my first aide kit dry! THis has great visibility for night time and compact for stoarage.

Works exactly as it should. I use this as my boat bag when I dive and it is continuously punished and still holding up. Highly recommend. Very well built.

I love it. It’s light weight and with a lot of space inside. The zippers are hard at the beginning but also that makes you feel safer the first time that you submerge the backpack.

We recently took a trip to the British Virgin Islands and stayed on a boat for several days. We bought this because we were worried about traveling to and from the boat via the dinghy and getting our phones, towels, and money, wet. It kept everything bone dry even through a downpour and a swim from boat to shore, one day. We were pretty nervous about swimming with it but it not only kept everything completely dry but also acted as a bit of a floating device (do not recommend putting the pack ON your back while swimming). Definitely a great purchase!

Great and best choice

Writing as a Divemaster, marine ecologist, and full-time PhD student who spends months of the year collecting data in the field. While I've yet to drag this backpack through its paces out on a fieldwork season, I've been pleasantly surprised with how robust it has been as an EDC backpack in adverse winter conditions. It's burly and rugged, and has a functionally minimalist design with plenty of external lash points and additional features. I picked this bag over alternatives such as the Patagonia Guidewater line or the Fishpond Thunderhead primarily because of its built-in laptop sleeve and double airtight pockets (one main compartment and one outside compartment). I don't regret this decision at all, and am pleasantly and plentifully surprised at how well-made and thought-out this product is. My only gripe so far is how small the external water bottle sleeves are—none of my water bottles fit in them, but it's also hard to whine about a feature that none of the other submersible packs on the market even have to begin with, so I digress. The hingeless carabiners are also sleek and functional and don't feel disposable. In short, this bag seems perfect for my demanding use cases, and my only suggestions are 1) bigger/more expandable water bottle sleeves, and 2) a clearer picture of Breakwater Supply's commitment to conservation and sustainability and how their products and materials reflect this focus. Thank you for this backpack Godsend!

Great quality and size for zodiac excursion.

The straps are large strong and really high quality. I had lost one of mine that came with my River backpack, but upon my request these were made available through the website. I'm so grateful that this company is so accommodating.

I have been wearing the Halocline shoe for just over two weeks now and I find them to be very comfortable and cushy. I'm able to put them on easily although I see some people complain about the narrow fit, I guess if you wear wide width shoes it can be a bit challenging. I like that they are silent on most surfaces and can be worn in various situations, whether sports, casual or semiformal. I also like the reflective drawstring, it adds a nice touch. I will definitely be wearing them often. I wish that they fitted a bit higher over the ankles to ensure that water doesn't get inside the shoe. Overall it's an excellent product and I look forward to seeing a second iteration of it.

Finally - a practical first aid kit for people that enjoy camping, hiking and other outdoor sports. It's compact but has the products you will likely need - as opposed to being full of fluff that you won't. A great gift for anyone that loves the outdoors.

Perfect size for a day trip on a boat in the islands!

I love this backpack. I walk to work and needed something waterproof. It fits my umbrella, fold-up rain coat, rain pants, and lunch. The zippers are kinda stiff, but they will probably relax after a while. It's expensive, but definitely worth the price.

These bags are truly waterproof! We have put them to the test during a rainy track season in the Midwest, and while visiting Niagara Falls--everything inside the bag has stayed dry in wet conditions. I would recommend these bags to anyone. The size options are great, and totally worth the price.

This is a pretty great bag if you spend a lot of time on or near the water. It’s got a tough, thick, waterproof material with heat-sealed seams and a really tight zipper, so you don't have to worry about your stuff getting wet or sandy. It’s big enough for towels, sunscreen, and snacks, but not so big that it gets too heavy to carry. It even floats, as long as it's not totally stuffed. A couple of other handy features are the included zipper grease to keep it working smoothly, and the shoulder strap for easier carrying. The bottom also has some structure, so it stands up on its own on the sand, which is a nice touch. You also get a symmetrical layout of interior pockets to keep your things organized. Basically, if you want a reliable bag that keeps your stuff dry at the beach or on a boat, this one is a solid choice. Not bad for the price.

Well I'm not about to take it under Niagara Falls but I did purchase it for an upcoming cruise trip. Already signed up for multiple excursions one of them being to waterfalls in Jamaica. Holds plenty of stuff. The one gripe i have is that I wanted a brighter color but the black is still nice.
