Writing as a Divemaster, marine ecologist, and full-time PhD student who spends months of the year collecting data in the field. While I've yet to drag this backpack through its paces out on a fieldwork season, I've been pleasantly surprised with how robust it has been as an EDC backpack in adverse winter conditions. It's burly and rugged, and has a functionally minimalist design with plenty of external lash points and additional features. I picked this bag over alternatives such as the Patagonia Guidewater line or the Fishpond Thunderhead primarily because of its built-in laptop sleeve and double airtight pockets (one main compartment and one outside compartment). I don't regret this decision at all, and am pleasantly and plentifully surprised at how well-made and thought-out this product is. My only gripe so far is how small the external water bottle sleeves are—none of my water bottles fit in them, but it's also hard to whine about a feature that none of the other submersible packs on the market even have to begin with, so I digress. The hingeless carabiners are also sleek and functional and don't feel disposable. In short, this bag seems perfect for my demanding use cases, and my only suggestions are 1) bigger/more expandable water bottle sleeves, and 2) a clearer picture of Breakwater Supply's commitment to conservation and sustainability and how their products and materials reflect this focus. This is a really nice beach bag and I have been very impressed by how practical it is for water trips. It is really amazing how this bag stands up to water and sand because I have taken it out several times to the beach and even on a small boat ride and nothing inside has ever gotten damp. I got this to keep personal items including electronics like my phone, earbuds, and power bank protected, and it has been great for that. The waterproof zipper seals tightly and the shoulder strap feels comfortable enough to carry even when the bag is packed full. The IP68 rating seems accurate because I have accidentally splashed it a few times and the water just rolls right off without soaking in at all. The bag is quite well made and robust with thick materials that feel tough and built to last. The seams look heat welded rather than stitched which adds confidence that it will stay sealed long term. I like that the bottom panel has some structure so it stands upright when placed on the sand, making it easier to find things without the bag collapsing. The interior is spacious enough for towels, sunscreen, snacks, and a change of clothes while still leaving room for smaller valuables. After using it a few weekends in a row, I can say it has performed flawlessly and looks almost new even after being exposed to salt air and bright sun.

Makes waterproof zippers work easier

awesome backpack! was comparing this one to some of the competition like $300 the Yeti Panga. I was able to check out the Yeti at a store and The Breakwater Supply bag has the same if not BETTER quality than the Yeti backpack and only for a fraction of the cost! I would highly recommend Breakwater Supply waterproof backpacks to anyone looking for a fully waterproof submersible backpack.

I actually bought this after I purchased their drybag backpack, which I LOVE! I usually use it when riding my bike, but I've taken it camping and to the river several times as well. Holding up great so far! The only issue I have with the first aid kit is that it says waterproof, but I'm not sure how since the zipper looks like a normal zipper. I might test it with all the paper things taken out, so, I'll update after that. Otherwise everything included is great!

This is a pretty great bag if you spend a lot of time on or near the water. It’s got a tough, thick, waterproof material with heat-sealed seams and a really tight zipper, so you don't have to worry about your stuff getting wet or sandy. It’s big enough for towels, sunscreen, and snacks, but not so big that it gets too heavy to carry. It even floats, as long as it's not totally stuffed. A couple of other handy features are the included zipper grease to keep it working smoothly, and the shoulder strap for easier carrying. The bottom also has some structure, so it stands up on its own on the sand, which is a nice touch. You also get a symmetrical layout of interior pockets to keep your things organized. Basically, if you want a reliable bag that keeps your stuff dry at the beach or on a boat, this one is a solid choice. Not bad for the price.

Amazing backpack. I bought the 20l size, because wanted to use it even when going on my daily commutes and not to feel like I am having a hiker backpack on bag. This backpack didn’t disappoint. Great quality. The zipper needs getting use to

This has been my everyday bag since I’ve received it! Not only is it completely waterproof but it’s super spacious and has several pockets for organization. I recommend this bag to everyone. The price is worth it!

This bag is awesome! Did exactly what we needed to do while in the mountains of the Dominican Republic. We literally let the bag float around in the springs while we jumped from spring to spring. It is not 100% waterproof as you can't sink it underwater and guarantee nothing won't get a little wet but it will float and keep your stuff dry from the splash and the rain which we were caught in while trekking back down the mountain. It is a really good quality bag.

So far so good with this amazing backpack! I am conservationist, content creator/photographer that needs to be able to keep my camera, lens, drone and equipment dry. I spend 80% of my days around water and the other 20% lost in the woods. This backpack does both. I appreciate the heavy duty zippers. It hasn’t take a dip yet but I did submerge it before use to confirm it was submersible. I know when it does go in I will appreciate that it floats. There is an exterior front pocket and interior pockets for organization. The straps are comfortable for hiking. I carried a drone, two 40oz water bottles, two lens and some additional equipment on a 6 mile hike/slog. It like most back packs did get a little hot while carrying it but I’m in Florida and it was 80 degree January day. It is easy to wipe down after use and and keep clean. I didn’t know it when I purchased it but it’s definitely my new day to day adventure bag!

Great and best choice

I'm a full-time photographer and am often out in rain, water and on sandy beaches. I wanted an adequately sized waterproof backpack to protect my gear, and the Breakwater 25L backpack seems to hit all the checkmarks. I really like that I can also confidently rinse any sand off the backpack when returning home from the beach. Comfortable to wear and has both interior and exterior zipped and pocketed compartments to store smaller items and laptop/iPad, etc. Others have mentioned struggling to close zippers, and yes, they need a good tug to close. There are grippable loops to help open and close the zippers, so that's been a non-issue for me. Great product at a reasonable price to protect my very expensive photography equipment. I also plan to stash a spare set of dry clothes for my more adventurous outings because everything will fit!
